In this time of rapid changes, employers have questions about the practical and legal considerations in responding to the Coronavirus. In response, NAILBA is presenting a one (1) hour seminar to discuss the labor and employment issues employers are faced with in this difficult time.

We will discuss what employers can, and are required to do, in response to the pandemic

  • Can you send employees home?
  • Can you require doctor’s notes?
  • What if an employee “tests positive” for the virus?
  • Can I take every employee’s temperature?

We will provide employers with answers on how to handle “shut down” orders or a slow-down in business, which include:

  • The difference between being “laid off” or “furloughed.”
  • Paying, or not paying, employees during the shut down or slow-down;
  • Benefit and unemployment issues;
We will also address the new laws being put into place which directly impact employers, including the Family First Corona Response Act, including:
  • How to handle the “paid leave?"
  • Does the Family and Medical Leave Act now apply to you?

How to handle employees who are working remotely

  • Do you have policies and procedures?
  • How will you track hours?

Other best practices employers need to follow during this time and how to prepare for the future. The speaker will open up the last few minutes of the webinar to answer questions from participants.
