NAILBA Mourns the Passing of George C. Van Dusen, III

We are deeply saddened to report the death of George C. Van Dusen, III. George died peacefully yesterday morning at his home in Minnesota. His wife Diane, and children Chip and Tori, were with him.

George was a well-known and highly respected professional in the brokerage community.  He was one of the Founding Members of NAILBA and served as its Chairman in 1994. He was recognized with the Mooers Award of Excellence in 2008. The Douglas Mooers Award of Excellence honors excellence in brokerage and is bestowed upon the individual most committed to furthering brokerage and independent life brokerage as a distribution system.  He was also NAILBA’s representative to ACORD, and was elected to their Board of Directors in 2001. George was a charter partner in LifeMark and since 1975, he was a member of LIFE, Inc. where he served as an officer for six years. 

George was extremely active in many outside organizations both in his community and nationally.  He was an early and active member of the Minneapolis Junior Chamber of Commerce.  He joined the Masonic order and became a 32º member of the Scottish Rite.  He then joined the Zuhrah Temple Shrine.  He also served for many years as a Board member of a local settlement house.

Condolences may be directed to the family at their agency, Diversified Brokerage Services, Inc., 5501 Exclesior Blvd., Minneapolis, MN 55416. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation in George’s memory.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, February 15 at the Washburn McReavy Funeral Home located at 5000 W. 50th and Highway 100 in Edina, Minnesota from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm CT.  Services will be held on Thursday, February 16, at 11:00 am CT at St. Mark’s Cathedral, 519 Oak Grove St. in Minneapolis.  The family will have a reception immediately following the service. For those of you traveling to Minneapolis, it is suggested you stay at a downtown hotel proximate to the church.
