Cindy Gentry Recognized with the 2019 Douglas Mooers Award for Excellence

The National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA) presented Cindy Gentry, recently retired President of BBA Life Brokerage, an independent life and annuity brokerage agency, with its 2019 Douglas Mooers Award for Excellence (sponsored by Pacific Life).

Cindy Gentry The annual award, NAILBA's most coveted and prestigious accolade, honors distinction in brokerage and is presented to the individual most committed to furthering independent life brokerage as a distribution system, and who demonstrates an exemplary record of community service. NAILBA honored Gentry at a special awards dinner held November 8, 2019, as part of the association's annual meeting, #NAILBA38.

Gentry began her insurance career in 1980. She has been in marketing and management with BBA Life Brokerage since 1987. In her almost 40 years as an insurance industry veteran, Gentry has assumed numerous leadership roles throughout the industry and received several awards as a testament to her business acumen and admiration among her peers. Gentry has served as President of Corpus Christi, TX NAIFA Chapter, Chairman of NAILBA launching the Education Committee during her appointment, and Chairman, LIFE Happens Board of Directors. Her local CLU Society has recognized her as "Agent of the Year," and by The Marketing Alliance, Inc., she was named the 2017 winner of the Billy Vogel Award of Excellence.

Gentry is known as a pioneer among the woman principals in the industry, giving of herself tirelessly to serving and ensuring the growth and success of others. She helped form SAGE, a study group focusing on issues facing female agency principals in the BGA space. She has also been a long time and dedicated member of SubCenters, Inc., the nation's oldest and most respected study group.

"I was very surprised and honored to receive the Mooers award. Frankly, with the caliber of those that had come before me, I was a bit shocked. I truly enjoyed every minute of my life experiences with NAILBA. I was a part of the association for most of my career, and I know having been a part influenced that career and my life. I will always be grateful," shares Gentry.

A life made even more colorful by her adventures outside of the day job — to include sky diving, bungee jumping, horseback riding, farming, riding motorcycles, and ranch ownership.
